Healing Centered Art: Many Paths to Wellness | Arts Council for Long Beach in collaboration with Angel’s Gate Cultural Center

May 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Online event. Healing Centered Art: Many Paths to Wellness engages artists, curators, and a trauma specialist in discussion about the creation, sharing, and utilization of art to enhance our mental health and wellness. A panel discussion led by Tiombe Wallace, MS, MFT, will share ways that the process of making and showing art can help to heal individual and community trauma, educate about healing, and elicit responses in participants. The discussion will be an exploration of our path through the overlapping mental health impacts of pandemic losses, racial trauma, and other stressors in the last year. An opt-in, healing self-reflection/community care time will be offered. Participants will be invited to create during a brief art expression. Attendees can utilize any simple art supplies available at home. Panelists include artists Nica Aquino, Jason Jenn, Rosalyn Myles and Vojislav Radovanović, whose work is currently on view in Sanctuary of the Aftermath at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center.
