Stress, sadness, loneliness… we all feel these emotions from time to time. But for some of us it’s different.

Thirty percent of students report signs of depression or hopelessness.

Eight percent of students suffer from a severe emotional disturbance – that limits activities in school and with family and friends.

In any given year, only 20% of children with mental illness are diagnosed and receive treatment.

Without treatment, these children – and their families – are robbed of bright futures. Untreated illness and emotional trauma can fuel generations of poverty, addiction, homelessness and incarceration – undermining the wellbeing of entire communities.

Across America, the effects of this broken system are widespread.
